; Will Continue the Successful Growth Strategies of His Predecessor

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 2006--Jorge J. Lopez has been named president and chief executive officer of ConEdison Solutions, effective July 1, the company announced today.

As one of the country's leading energy services companies, ConEdison Solutions -- the energy services subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (CEI) -- supplies competitively priced energy and energy management services to a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential customers around the United States.

Mr. Lopez will succeed JoAnn F. Ryan, who is assuming the senior executive position in charge of purchasing, central field services, energy management, and information resources for the regulated businesses in the Con Edison family of companies.

"In a period when customers are more focused than ever on energy efficiency and energy costs, ConEdison Solutions is uniquely positioned to advise customers on critical decisions impacting their energy consumption and energy costs," said Mr. Lopez. "I intend to build upon JoAnn Ryan's outstanding record of achievement at ConEdison Solutions by continuing to expand into new geographic markets, while driving innovation in the offers we make to customers and the methods with which we provide service to customers.

"As recently as 2002, ConEdison Solutions was concentrating on doing business within New York State," said Mr. Lopez. "The company has since expanded operations into New Jersey, Massachusetts, Texas, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C. and is now the eighth largest electric retailer in the United States. Our team will continue to work to further broaden our geographic reach into new markets."

"ConEdison Solutions will continue to look for opportunities to grow our Energy Services and Retail Commodity lines of business," Mr. Lopez said, "and build upon our award-winning relationship with the United States Postal Service to expand our public sector client base while continuing our profitable growth in the industrial, commercial, and residential sectors."

In addition, Mr. Lopez said he intends to hold steadfastly to "our vision of being the premier energy solutions company by providing innovative and cost effective solutions to our customers. Our success during the past four years is a result of the continuing investment in our firm's technology infrastructure that has enabled us to offer increasingly complex products and services to our customers while maintaining a disciplined focus on risk management."

"Jorge Lopez is ideally qualified to position ConEdison Solutions for additional growth in his new role as president and CEO," said Stephen B. Bram, Group President, Competitive Energy Businesses at Consolidated Edison, Inc. "He is committed to the corporate vision and market expansion strategy of the company, which flourished under the leadership of JoAnn Ryan."

Mr. Lopez, who joined ConEdison Solutions in 2002, most recently served as Senior Vice President of Retail Commodity and Energy Services, where he was responsible for development and leadership of the company's Energy Services and Retail Commodity divisions. He formerly also held the position of the Vice President of Sales.

An industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Lopez had previously served as Director of Sales, power quality/reliability and distributed generation for Chevron Energy Solutions, an energy services company based in San Francisco. Prior to his tenure at Chevron, he held a variety of management positions at New Jersey-based PSE&G.

Mr. Lopez holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
