(New York) -- Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) announced that its Indian Point 2 generating station reached 100 percent power Sunday night, delivering approximately 1,000 megawatts of electricity to the company's power grid.

"The safe and methodical full return to power of Indian Point 2 is a tribute to our hard working, dedicated employees," said Kevin Burke, president of Con Edison.

In December, Con Edison completed the installation of four new steam generators. The restart follows months of extensive testing of plant systems as well as ongoing testing during restart. In December, the company announced the sale of Indian Point 2 to the Entergy Corporation. The closing of this transaction is anticipated by mid-2001.
