Con Edison Restores Power in Westchester County
|
NEW YORK, July 22, 2006 - Con Edison crews have restored power to more than 33,800 customers in Westchester County. Power outages were caused by two thunderstorms within 72 hours this week.
Approximately 9,500 customers lost power from Friday's storm. On Tuesday, approximately 35,000 customers had their electricity knocked out by that storm. About 2,700 customers remained without power on Saturday afternoon from those two storms. Con Edison's goal is to restore the remaining 1,200 customers from Tuesday's storm by late Sunday afternoon. The remaining 1,500 customers without power from Friday's storm should have their lights back by late Sunday night. Any customers whose power has not been restored should call 1-800-75-CONED. Con Edison appreciates customers' patience during this natural disaster. Throughout the restoration process, safety is the No. 1 priority for Con Edison employees and our customers. Both storms also struck hardest in communities south of I-287, including White Plains and Yonkers. The company was in contact with the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services and local police departments during the entire restoration process. Con Edison Media Relations |
