Con Edison Joins 'Concert For New York' Telethon

New York, N.Y. -- Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con
Edison) will join a telethon held in conjunction with the "Concert for
New York" at Madison Square Garden tomorrow. Hosted by Paul McCartney,
the concert will honor rescue workers and raise contributions to benefit
the families of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
About 300 Con Edison volunteers will answer phones during the telethon, in conjunction with the concert. It will be televised live around the world on VH1. Stars like Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, The Who, Bon Jovi, James Taylor, and many others will perform for 5,000 family members of the New York City Police, Fire Department and rescue crews. "Our employees are always willing to give of their time and their hearts for a worthy cause," said Marilyn Caselli, vice president of customer operations. "We are pleased that, once again, Con Edison workers have offered overwhelming support to assist their fellow citizens. They are a source of inspiration in these difficult times." Con Edison's volunteers will answer phones from the company's Brooklyn and Westchester call centers. The telethon will be held from 7:00 p.m. October 20 to 3:00 a.m. October 21. Con Edison and its employees have offered many types of assistance to the recovery, restoration and relief efforts at the World Trade Center site. More than 2000 employees worked around the clock to bring back electric, steam, and gas services to our customers in lower Manhattan. Many employees also donated blood, food, and clothes as well as volunteered at relief shelters. Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc. [NYSE: ED], one of
