Con Edison Advises Fordham Residents of System Status
|
In the Fordham section of the Bronx, there are currently two electrical feeders of the 20 feeders that supply the Fordham Network that are out of service and are now undergoing repairs. There are currently five customers of the 80,000 customers in the network that are without service. There is no immediate threat to the entire electrical network. However, a loss of another feeder could result in additional localized customer outages. Con Edison crews are in the area working to rectify the problem. As a prudent measure to keep our customers informed, Con Edison has dispatched customer outreach staff in the affected community. Outreach personnel will be posted at University Avenue and Hall of Fame Terrace near Bronx Community College and 181th Street to provide customers with information about the status of the area’s electricity system. Additionally, Con Edison has requested that the 17 large customers with in the Fordham Network curtail all unnecessary use of electricity in order to alleviate potential strain on the network. While the electricity supply is adequate, all New Yorkers are advised to use electricity wisely, especially during these high demand days. Con Edison is in constant communication with the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management. |
