Con Edison Appoints Michael S. Clendenin Director of Media Relations

NEW YORK, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) (NYSE: ED) announced today the appointment of Michael S. Clendenin as director of media relations in the utility's public affairs organization effective early July. Clendenin will have responsibility for the company's corporate media relations activities and will serve as a corporate spokesperson.

"Mike brings to the company a broad range of media and public relations experience with both government and the private sector. We're fortunate to have someone with his ability and understanding to communicate with the media on behalf of the company," said Frances A. Resheske, vice president of public affairs for Con Edison.

Currently, Clendenin is director of communications for the New York City Council, where he is responsible for all public relations and media strategy. He also handles public relations activities for the Council Committee hearings and special events, supervises staff press aides, and coordinates assignment of all City Council press releases, speeches and interviews for print and broadcast media.

Prior to his position at the City Council, Clendenin was a vice president with Connelly & McLaughlin, a public relations and lobbying firm with a wide range of clients in politics, real estate, health care, labor and other industries. There, he developed media strategy and arranged meetings for clients with government staff and elected officials.

A native of Queens, New York, Clendenin holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northeastern University. He resides in Hollis Hills, New York, with his wife Lynn and their three children.
